The passed few weeks have been crazy. First started with Layla being sick, she is doing so much better, prayers helped, and she finally startd eating and drinking and is now a playful dog. We are so happy to have her back, she is so fun and lovable. Josh is enjoying teaching her to fetch and sit and whatever else he can teach her, sometimes she doesn't want to listen.
The next thing is WE GOT PHONEBOOK ROUTES!! Last year we got a route for Josh so he could earn money for scout camp. We think it is very important for our kids to learn to work and to earn their own money. So Ed took the class and got a route and we all helped, I helped bag and so did Alycia, and then Josh, Aaron, Tyler and dad would go out and deliver. The first route we got was HORRIBLE, it was a rural route so we had to pretty much drive to every house cause the driveways are so long, it wasted so much gas. We were so glad when we got 3 routes close to eachother, and the houses were in a develpment, instead of 10 hours on one route it was less then 10hours for all 3 routes, lol. The boys learned a lot and were really happy to help. Josh earned all $235 for his camp, Aaron doesn't get to go to scout camp this year but he already has a portion of his money for next year. We had a boy from our ward do this with us so he could earn money for camp also. Tyler will have money for his day camp. So a weeks worth of work and the kids have earned all their own money. I am so proud of them and working so hard.
Last week it got SOOOO cold. It all began on Monday. It was a nice 35 degrees. It rapidly dropped to 18 degrees by mid day. It continued to drop. That night Ed had to cut tool boxes for cub scouts. It started to snow and was SO cold out. He pushed his truck out of the garage (truck doesn't start dead battery) and then turned on a heater in there. He cut all the wood and was done about 10:30 pm. He came inside and asked me to help him push his truck back inside the garage. I didn't really think about it so put my coat on and went to help in my slppers, lol. When we opened the garage door we found that the strong winds we were having had pushed his door open on his truck and so his truck was full of snow. Also, there was humps of snow we now had to push the truck over and up into the slanted garage, and by the way it was FREEZING out there. After trying and having no luck he said go wake up the kids. So I went in and got REAL shoes on and got Josh out of bed. The three of us got the truck back into the garage, BURRR!!!
The next two days were so cold so school was cancelled. Tuesday with windchill we hit somewhere in the -50's, not much snow but frigid temperatures. Wed was a little warmer but still didn't hit the positive numbers so school was cancelled again. I guess the busses don't start and you can't have kids waiting for the bus or walking to school in those frigid temperatures. The kids had fun playing at home for 2 days. I got a book read and enjoyed veggin with the kids. I am so thankful for a warm house with a working heater. I didn't leave the house for 2 days and I was ok with that, hot chocolate and apple cider, and homemade soup were my friends, LOL.
